Study on Group Movement Characteristics in Stairwell of High-Rise Buildings

In order to cope with limited land availability and the increasing urban population, more high-rise buildings are being built throughout cities, but this has also led new challenges in emergency evacuation of people. Therefore, we conducted an experiment a group people stairwells explore movement law groups stairwells. The had 18 scenes, including independent crowd different groups. Analyzing groups’ showed that regardless type group, average speed was than 1.2 m/s, which longer previous studies. constraints process, smaller difference between males females. Group cohesion mostly concentrated at about 1 s. Moreover, velocity were found have no significant correlation stairwell movement. time eight scenes it took for crowds bearing weight evacuate those not weight. Regardless kind scene or stairwell, number pedestrians generally first increased then decreased significantly low value, reached 30 scenario without any load.
